Size

Scientific name: Phytoseiulus persimilis
Common name: Predatory mite

Difference between Spidex Red: different stages of the persimilis are present (eggs, nymphs, adults), has a (non-pest) food source in the bottle, and there is a proof of predation. The persimilis will turn red once they have fed on spider mites in the crop. 

Best used: as a curative against the two spotted spider mite. 

Works by: feeding on all stages of spider mites, but has a preference for eggs. The predatory mites pierce the eggs and consume the contents. Adult will also attack adult spider mites but the smaller development stages only feed on smaller prey stages. The larvae do not eat.

  • Spidex Vital Plus: 25 sachets. Each sachet containing 250 Phytoseiulus persimilis.
  • Spidex Vital Plus: 100 sachets. Each sachet containing 250 Phytoseiulus persimilis.

Suggested Rates
2.5-1/m2 if plants touch or 1/plant if they do not touch. This rate depends on pest pressure and crop type.

Application Frequency
To prevent or eradicate a pest infestation, most of our biological pest control products need to be placed out either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Storage
In the dark at 8-10C for 1-2 days after receipt if needed.
