FAQ
Can I use SHYIELD™ Concentrate on my floors?
There are general measures to follow when using either SHYIELD™ concentrate on flooring. For regular disinfection and cleaning of high-risk areas and rooms, we recommend a 1:40 dilution (25mL of concentrate per 1000mL of water) of the SHYIELD™ Concentrate solution with a 5 minute contact time. For areas and rooms that are low-risk, a 1:128 dilution and 30 second contact time will clean and sanitize the surface. If the floor remains sticky/tacky, a periodic rinse with water may be required to remove excess surfactants.
Should I be concerned when using mop and buckets during cleaning and disinfection?
The use of traditional reusable cotton string mops and buckets has been shown to be associated with outbreaks, cross contamination and decreased cleaning ability. Re-using mops for excessive lengths of time can harbour and contribute to the spread of pathogens, cross-contamination and potentially lead to outbreaks. Single-use microfiber cloths have inherent benefits when it comes to improving cleaning and disinfection effectiveness. In addition, it is important for cleaning equipment, such as mop handles, heads, and covers, to be dedicated to the area where they are used. To prevent cross-contamination, equipment used to clean walls and ceilings should not be used to clean floors, nor should they be taken outside of a dedicated area. Conventional mops with cellulose heads should be changed every 48 hours to prevent shedding, and conventional mop handles should be replaced every month. Buckets must be metal free and made of heavy-duty plastic.
Can I use SHYIELD™ products in foot bath application?
SHYIELD™ can be used in a footbath application. Both the Ready-To-Use (RTU) and concentrate formula can be used in this application. Remember, footbath solutions should be disposed of daily or sooner if solution is visibly soiled.
If using the concentrate solution, dilute 25 mL of SHYIELD™ concentrate per litre of water, creating a 1:40 dilution. To prevent cross contamination into growing areas, shoe baths containing one inch of freshly made disinfecting solution must be placed at all entrances to building. Scrape waterproof shoes or boots, thoroughly scrub and rinse with water. Place shoes/boots in SHYIELD™ solution. Allow product to remain in contact with shoes/boots for 5 minutes and allow to air dry.
For SHYIELD™ RTU solution, skip the dilution step. The added benefit of using the RTU is that disinfection is achieved in as little as 3 minutes, increasing compliance and saving time!
